Driving in New Zealand is a great way to explore and is easy. It can be a long way between towns, particularly in the south island, however our roads are uncrowded. The speed is limit is 100 kph (60mph) in open road areas and 50kph (30mph) in urban areas and traffic in NZ drives on the left.
A drivers licence printed in english is required or an international or english translation will be needed.
Car Terms & Conditions
BOOKING PROTOCOL: Please contact the branch of pick up direct. For hires from or to Queenstown, please contact Auckland branch. A deposit of NZ$200 is required to confirm a booking, and the balance of hire and bond of $1000 is payable at the time you collect the vehicle. A credit card will be required at time of rental for security and for damage cover charges. After hours bookings can be arranged, please contact the branch of pick up. An additional charge may apply.
BOND WAIVER INSURANCE: A bond waiver insurance is available to replace the bond liability of $1000. BWI is $12 per day extra (minimum charge 3 days) and this reduces the bond and the liability for the cost of accidents and damage to $250 while on hire. This option also provides reduced liabilaty for windscreen and glass cover with an excess of $250.
GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS: Drivers must be a minimum of 21 years of age with a full drivers license printed in English. One way rentals by branch confirmation only. Drop off fees apply. Reservations are confirmed by vehicle group and not by specific make or model. A free client pick-up and drop off service is provided seven days a week from airports during office hours. Prices shown are those current at time of printing. Prices subject to change without notice. Missing items i.e. hub caps, radio cassette etc. are not covered by damage waiver or damage cover. Damaged tyres are not covered by damage waiver or damage cover. Excess hours are charged at $10 per hour.
